"Love songs are one of the great essences of life, the only thing that's lasting"- George Benson Another old friend came by for a visit on this journey. Tonight I listened to "Come on Over" by Shania Twain and I was instantly transported back to the year Luke and I were engaged and getting married. Songs from this record were all over country radio and the love songs were frequently played on hot summer nights as we dated.
My favorite song on this album is still definitely "You're Still the one." The long term love described in this song was a lofty goal for a young couple, but now 17 years later, it is a way of life. "We knew we'd get there someday" definitely describes the life we get to live each and every day. We have a strong marriage, great family and friends, a beautiful home, and two successful careers. And the best part, he is "...still the one I want for life." As I listened through this album, I had a hard time not putting every single song on my playlist. "Man, I feel like a woman" still makes me want to put on my favorite pair of jeans and go line dancing with my friends. "From this Moment On" remains me of the last slow dance at our wedding. "Don't be Stupid" still makes me smile. From beginning to end, my young love story played out and brought back great memories.
