"We don't make mistakes, just happy little accidents." -Bob Ross This month's Lifebook art took a back seat to real life until spring break hit. This week I was able to finish three projects as seen above. I LOVED making the prayer altar and the happy little houses. The Paint over collage was SO hard for me and I was super frustrated with the result. But then I realized that it was ok--it does not have to be perfect. I learned that I am not. a fan of paint over but collage is fun! Good enough for me. I wonder what next month will bring?
"When the flowers start blooming, I like to ride my bike." -Ravyn Lenae My bike has sat abandoned since the moment we moved into our new house--nearly four years ago. Over the past few weeks Jaxon has asked me to ride, but my bike was not ready to roll. So today, my heart was filled with joy when Jaxon and his dad got my bike ready! We got to go on a ride, feel the wind in our faces and celebrate that spring might finally be on the way! What a beautiful way to spend an afternoon!
"Sometimes the best vacation is a staycation." -Unknown Instead of traveling for spring break, we decided to use a locals discount to check out the Gaylord Rocky Mountain Resort. It was a pretty low-key way to finish our break. Blake was panicked by the number of people so he was content to hang in our room and watch March Madness and some movies. Jaxon LOVED the outdoor pool and was able to convince both mom and dad to join him in the pool. Dinner at the sports bar was fun as we watched the game on the HUGE television, even if the food was a bit overpriced. It was nice to connect as a family and enjoy time together.
"Doing nothing often leads to the very best of something." -Winnie the Pooh Luke took today off to spend with us on spring break. And what did we decide to do? Nothing! We sat on the couch together and watched FIVE different movies. We cuddled, played brainless games, ordered dinner and enjoyed the time together. It was a perfect day of being imperfect together. True love? Maybe not, but it was true bliss! “I’m just a girl in the world.” -Gwynn Stefani A Saturday morning matinee to see a superhero movie-what more can a girl ask for? I had heard that the movie wasn’t great, but I enjoyed it. The character is awesome and the music was a visit back to the old memories of high school. Can’t wait to see how she moves Avengers End Game forward. Oh yeah, and Fury’s eye injury? Brilliantly funny!
“Beer is proof God loves us and wants us to be happy.”-Benjamin Franklin Happy hour is one of things that Luke and I both really enjoy, but interestingly we rarely if ever go together. We both go weekly-but usually with our work friends. So today we decided to go together to 20 brew. We enjoyed the sunshine on the way and a hot date to the grocery store after. Nothing fancy but lots of fun to be together.
"Sometimes you win Sometimes you lose Sometimes it rains." -Bull Durham March came into our lives like a lion. Illness has run rampant--Jaxon has missed 3 days of school, Blake 2 and Mom 2. By the end of each day, it seems that all is left is to make it home to the couch to rest (and cough!). So, on March 13/14, life gave us a rain date--2 snow days caused by the bombogenesis! We got about 6 inches of snow and 48 hours to just rest. I left all of my work at school and there was nothing to do but get better. It was a time out at a great time--so grateful that we got to hit the pause button! Now to go on into the second half of the month with joy and health!
